A day in Marseille

Hello everyone!

Today, I'm going to dedicate my second article to the city of Marseille. As the largest city in the region and the second largest city in France, it was impossible for me not to introduce it to you!
Like all big cities, there are many activities and monuments to visit. That's why I'm going to write you my top 5 things to do or see in Marseille.

1.    Beaches and the Calanques National Park

How can we talk about Marseille without mentioning its unique beaches?
For those who like to walk, the Parc National des Calanques offers many paths where you can hike between the sea and the tortuous reliefs. After the trail, you can rest and sunbathe by the turquoise water. These are typical landscapes of the South of France which the inhabitants love.

For those in a hurry who don't have time to hike in the creeks, you will find the Prophet's Beach on the city centre side, accessible by car or public transport.

2.    Shops

When you say big city, you mean shopping! For shopping, I recommend several places. For those who prefer the convenience of shopping centres, I recommend the shopping centre "les Terrasses du Port" which has more than 200 shops and restaurants. You could find your favourite shops and enjoy the view of the autonomous port of Marseille and the Mediterranean Sea.

For those who prefer to do their shopping while strolling around the city, the most famous shopping streets are Rue Saint-Ferréol and Rue de Rome, and many perpendicular streets. There are many shops here, ranging from large luxury brands to small local shops.

3. Notre Dame de la Garde Cathedral

It is the lucky monument for all the superstitious inhabitants of Marseille: the Cathedral of Notre Dame de la Garde. Located in the heights of Marseille, it offers a 360° view of the city, and is visible from all parts of the city. Formerly responsible for protecting the fishermen of Marseille, it is now one of the emblems of Marseille and attracts a large number of tourists every year.

4.    Cours Julien

The Cours Julien is a district in the city centre of Marseille that represents Street Art and has the particularity of being entirely tagged. All the walls and facades are tagged there, offering us real works of art. You will leave this district with colors full eyes (and very nice pictures!).

5. The Old Port

How can we talk about Marseille without talking about what makes it so charming? The Old Port of Marseille is known to everyone and is a must when you are in Marseille. It is the oldest port in the city, and is today a marina, a popular gathering place and one of the symbols of Marseille.

Of course, there are many other places to visit in Marseille as it's a big city, but for me these are the most typical places in Marseille, and I hope you will enjoy discovering their charm and authenticity.
